Extensions

Students who need more time to complete their degree, must have the support of your principal supervisor and RAO, and seek the approval of the Dean, GRS.

Complete the Extension of Candidature (online form in ResearchMaster) and the Completion Timeline template, in consultation with the Extension of Candidature Guidelines. You must submit to GRS no earlier than six months and no later than two months before your Expected Work Submission (EWS) date.

The maximum period of extension for a doctoral degree is one calendar year approved six months at a time.

You will need to provide evidence that circumstances impacting your study are genuinely beyond your control.

You can also extend your scholarship. Complete the UTS Research Scholarship Extension Form and submit a separate request to GRS no earlier than six months and no later than one month before the scholarship expiry date.

Please refer to your scholarship conditions to check your eligibility for an extension. If eligible, only 1 extension for a maximum period of up to 6 months will be granted.
