UTS Internal Structures
Who’s who in the UTS zoo
CIC – The Connected Intelligence Centre is a small strategic innovation centre working in close partnership with faculties and business units, providing UTS with research-based data science tools and expertise. If you are accepted into the CIC HDR program, you will be located in the CIC building. (Interested in history? Have a look at this ‘A Dark Name for an Enlightening Learning Space‘ .)
GRS – The Graduate Research School develops and maintains a university-wide approach to quality assurance in research education and provides general support to all UTS research degree students and supervisors. It is the central university unit responsible for developing research degree policies and procedures. They can assist current and future UTS research students and supervisors with the UTS Framework for Doctoral Education, researcher development, candidature stages and assessments, and managing a student’s candidature.
Faculties – UTS has 9 faculties: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UTS Business School, Faculty of Design Architecture and Building, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Science, Graduate School of Health, Faculty of Transdisciplinary Innovation. They each offer undergraduate and postgraduate coursework and research degrees.
Jumbunna – The Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning provides additional support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, including support with the application process. Once you start at UTS, Jumbunna will become an important resource for academic, social, emotional and cultural connection throughout your degree.
UTS Housing Services – UTS Housing Services provide a range of services, on and off-campus.
UTS International is responsible for assisting with the recruitment and support of students from overseas. They also manage the University’s relationships with international agents.
UTS Library – The Library provides enormous support for researchers. You should particularly check out their research data management advice, as you are required to have a research data management plan in STASH. Also check out the material on referencing and NVivo for qualitative research.
